Driver’s License
When buying a car, one of the most important things to bring with you is your driver’s license. Not only will you need this to test drive the car you are getting ready to buy but the dealership also will need it to verify your identity and residence. Make sure the license is valid and not expired.

Insurance
You will need proof of insurance to purchase your new vehicle. If you finance the vehicle, full coverage insurance is required by all lenders. You do not need to have your new vehicle on the policy yet if it is an unexpected purchase, but if have the VIN handy before you go in to sign the paperwork it would be a good idea to add it to your policy before driving off the lot.

Payment
Another important thing to have ready is your payment! If you’re putting any money down, most dealerships will accept cash, check, or a card. If you’re financing and not putting any money down, you’ll need to be prepared to sign all the necessary paperwork with the lender.

Proof of Residence and Income
In some scenarios, you’ll need stipulations in order for the lender to finalize the loan. This could be proof of residence and proof of income. Proof of residence can be completed with either a utility bill or a similar statement. Proof of income is satisfied with your recent pay stub.

Trade-in Documents and Items
Lastly, if you are trading in your vehicle make sure to have all aspects of your old vehicle straightened out. If you have the vehicle paid off, make sure to bring the title and lien release. If there are two keys, bring both. If you have special locking lug nuts or a custom bed cover for your truck, bring the keys needed to unlock those items.

Ultimately, we want to make sure that you have a smooth transaction when you come to purchase a new vehicle at Landers Chevrolet of Norman. If you have any questions about the purchase process, contact us directly.
