It’s no secret that we love our Sooners. They work hard all year for us so we can enjoy seeing them play on Saturdays throughout the fall. Some say Saturdays in Norman, Oklahoma are unlike any other and we tend to agree! Landers Chevrolet of Norman, Oklahoma is a proud partner of OU Athletics and we are proud of our Sooners for another great season.

So let’s talk about some of the numbers this season.

FIRST IN THE BIG 12! WOO! BOOMER SOONER!

The Sooners were 12-2 and undefeated 6-0 at home. Remember, we did say there was something about Norman on a crisp fall Saturday…

Overall there were 977,343 people in attendance of OU games, home and away, this season. The away game at Texas had the most attendance, with 92,100 in the stands. The Kansas game had the lowest number of spectators, with 34,402 in attendance.

The Sooners had an average of 42.14 points per game this season, while their opponents averaged only 27.29 points per game. The Sooners’ season culminated with a total of 590 points from every game this season. Their rivals only accumulated a mere 382.

Here are a few more staggering Sooner statistics for the 2019 season:

  • 348 First Downs
  • 3,363 Rushing Yards
  • 4,164 Passing Yards
  • 946 Plays
  • 7,527 Total Yards
  • 76 Touchdowns
  • An average of 31 Minutes and 2 Seconds of Possession Time per Game
  • Total Possession Time of Seven Hours, 14 Minutes, and 30 Seconds

Coach Riley has been known to say that every loss at Oklahoma is shocking. While that is true, the odds of going undefeated are heavily stacked against any team. Only losing two games all season is a pretty incredible feat. Oklahoma has only been undefeated 11 times in its 125-year history. And in three of those years, prior to 1900, an entire season consisted of just two games. So we’d say Coach Riley is doing a good job.
