Earth Day is April 22! In the car industry, we know how important it is to be eco-friendly and conscious of how we are impacting the earth. We all do the best we can, but did you know our driving habits actually have a huge affect this as well? Being an eco-friendly driver can save you money on gas, help get you better insurance rates and even help the carbon emissions out of the environment. Eco-Friendly Tips:

1. Jackrabbit Starts? – We all do it! Whether we’re running a little bit late or just enjoy the thrill of it, we hit the gas a little too hard and zoom away from the stoplight. However, this can have one of the biggest impacts on your fuel efficiency, and it can increase emissions by up to 40 percent.

2. Speeding? – Did you know speed limit signs actually save you money on fuel? The speed limit signs are set to reduce the environmental impact of road traffic such as vehicle noise and vibrations, but they can also help curb emissions.

3. Tires? – Tire inflation needs to be priority — it’s such an easy thing to fix, but it’s often so easily forgotten! This is one of the most important maintenance items you can do to increase your fuel efficiency. Many wouldn’t think about it, but your wheel alignment can also make a huge difference in efficiency, along with helping with the wear and tear on your tires. Just good practice, ya know?

4. Idle? Or Stop?? – Many people would think that putting your vehicle in idle is more fuel efficient. However, this is very false! Stopping your engine completely is the ideal approach. Many vehicles now have automatic start/stop engine features, but if yours doesn’t, simply be aware if you find yourself sitting in traffic or one area for a while.
