While the Silverado 1500 was created to be a great truck, it’s not one size fits all. You know what kind of truck bests fits you and your needs, so the 2022 Silverado comes in different trims to fit those needs. The trims for the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 are Work Truck (WT), Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country. An all-new trim level is debuting on the 2022 Silverado 1500 too. For the first time, the Silverado is getting the ZR2 treatment. The Silverado 1500 ZR2 has a unique look with skid plates, red tow hooks, black accents, and more. The ZR2 features Multimatic DSSV Dampers, front and rear electronic locking differentials, and a higher approach angle styled bumper.
Let’s discuss the exterior.
The footprint of the Silverado 1500 remains unchanged for 2022 but includes some excellent upgrades. Customizable options for your Silverado 1500 start with simple choices, like what color you want your truck to be. The exterior paint options are:
- Iridescent Pearl Tricoat
- Red Hot
- Satin Steel Metallic
- Northsky Blue Metallic
- Silver Ice Metallic
- Summit White
- Black
- Shadow Grey Metallic
- Oxford Brown Metallic
- Cherry Red Tintcoat
Once you’ve chosen your paint coat, let’s walk around the 2022 Silverado 1500 to show you its upgrades. The front fascia looks familiar but modernized. The crisp LED daytime running lights are front and center and feature a distinct grille depending on the trim level you choose. The grille is split by the center grille bar that can come in two-tone Bronze and Chrome, Chrome, or Dark finish. Chrome or Dark grille accents can be matched all over the exterior, with corresponding bumpers, mirror caps, door handles, and beltline accents. Wheels come at either 17-, 18-, or 20-inches.
The truckbed is another perk of owning a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. With 12 standard tie-downs, you can secure whatever you’re transporting. The cargo volume sits at the best-in-class 89.1 cu.-ft. For reference, a typical refrigerator averages 22 to 31 cu.-ft. Getting into the back of your truck will also be more manageable with the available power-up and down tailgate. All eight trims have the Multi-Flex Tailgate option with six different ways to give easier access to the cargo bed. Read more about what the Multi-Flex Tailgate has to offer on our blog.
Pop the Hood. Let’s take a look at the engine.
The engine choices remain largely unchanged when compared to previous model years. The four engine choices are a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, 5.3-liter V8, 6.2-liter V8, and a 3.0-liter Duramax diesel. The 2.7-liter can reach up to 310 horsepower and has 348 lb.-ft. of torque, with auto stop/start technology and eight-speed automatic transmission. This engine comes standard with WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, and RST. The 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 comes with 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque, alongside its eight-speed automatic transmission and auto stop/start tech. This engine comes standard on the LTZ, LT Trail Boss, and High Country trims, but is available for the LT and RST trims as well. The 6.2-liter EcoTec V8 hails with 420 hp, 460 lb.-ft. of torque, and a 10-speed automatic transmission. This engine is available for the Custom Trail Boss and if equipped with automatic stop/start tech, it has a maximum towing capacity of 9,100 pounds. Without the automatic stop/start tech, the 6.2-liter engine is available for the High Country, LTZ, LT Trail Boss, and RST with a max towing capacity of 13,300 pounds. The 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine has 277 hp, 460 lb.-ft. of torque, a ten-speed automatic transmission, auto stop/start tech, and a max towing capacity of 9,300 pounds. This engine is available on LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country trims.
Let’s discuss the cabin.
The interior is just as important as the exterior, as this will be where you’ll be when your truck leaves the garage. While a comfortable cabin may not be at the top of your priority list, one does make any trip more agreeable. The 2022 Silverado 1500 has the best-in-class front head- and legroom to start with. Interior color options include:
- Jet Black Cloth
- Jet Black Leather-Appointed Front Seats
- Gideon/very dark atmosphere cloth
- Gideon/very dark atmosphere leather-appointed front seats

The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 can be equipped with an available Advanced Trailering System, which, when paired with the In-Vehicle App, can be a convenient tool with its pre-departure checklists, trailer lighting diagnostics, and trailer tire pressure monitoring features, among others.
