We don't know about you, but one of the things we're most looking forward to once the Coronavirus epidemic is in the rearview mirror is getting back out there and doing some travelling, seeing America the best way there is: from the window a Chevrolet. Covid-19 has meant there have been changes big and small all over the world and at General Motors, where there's been a scramble to reschedule the debut of redesigned and refreshed models. That includes the debut of the next generation of one of our most family-friendly and road-trip-ready SUVs: the all-new Chevy Traverse.

The good news is: the refreshed Traverse is coming. Bad news is: it'll be as a 2022 model that won't make its grand entrance on dealer lots until early next year. The best news is: we've got all the details to get you excited to drive the 2022 Traverse as soon as it hits the ground at Landers Chevy of Norman!

Loaded with cargo room, passenger space, cutting edge safety and great style, the Traverse has long been a big seller for Chevy, clocking in as their third-best-selling vehicle behind the Chevy Tahoe and the always-popular Chevy Silverado. Traverse saw its best sales year ever in 2019, with Chevy moving almost 150,000 Traverse models, adding to the over 1.3 million Traverses sold since the nameplate debuted in 2009.

While the 2022 Traverse will not be a total, top-to-bottom redesign, Chevy is clearly making a great thing better with a slew of new features, more safety and more style than ever before. Though the Traverse was already a very safe SUV, safety takes a big leap forward in the 2022 Traverse, which will feature a suite of six advanced safety features that come standard across all trims,  including Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning and more.

"With this refreshed Traverse, Chevy will have one of the freshest SUV lineups in the market,” said Steve Majoros, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. “But it’s more than just looks. Traverse already offers a long list of safety features and will now offer more standard safety features across all trims, in addition to the functionality and style Traverse owners have come to appreciate.”

On the styling front, the 2022 Traverse will receive an upgraded front facia and grille to bring its appearance in line with the award-winning, Camaro-influenced styling that makes the Chevy Blazer and Trailblazer compact standouts. Other design upgrades will include restyled LED headlights and taillights, restyled front and rear bumpers, four new alloy wheel designs and more.

“The new Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban has received an overwhelmingly positive response from consumers,” said Holt Ware, director of Chevrolet exteriors, crossovers and cars. “The new design of the 2022 Traverse gains this new commanding appearance and presence we know Traverse owners will appreciate.”

The 2022 Traverse's interior will get some substantial upgrades over the current model as well, including the available SkyScape dual-panel power sunroof with power sunshade and a new 9-inch diagonal touchscreen in the center dash that's clearer and which features more processing power than ever before. Helping the 2022 Traverse "talk" to your smartphone without tangled wires is the available wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity, an all-new available wireless phone charging pad, and fast-charge USB ports for all three rows.

We hate that our customers are going to have to wait a little longer to test-drive the all-new 2022 Chevy Traverse, but we're confident that when the next Traverse does roll onto our showroom floor at Landers Chevy of Norman, it will be the most advanced Traverse EVER!
