OU Softball - Road to Championships

Boomer Sooner! As you know here at Landers Chevrolet of Norman, we are proud partners of Sooner Athletics. We believe it's important to support our community and show them our love! If you didn’t know (how could you not?), our OU Sooners are champions at many sports — football, basketball, softball, gymnastics and even rowing! Keep reading to see what’s going on with our OU softball team.

The OU softball team, eight-time defending Big 12 Champions, earned the no. 1 overall spot in the 2019 NCAA Division I Softball Championship and will now host the NCAA Regional at Marita Hynes Field starting May 17. The four-team, three-day event will feature teams including Notre Dame, Wisconsin, UMBC and of course our own OU Sooners. The winner of Friday’s series will face off in the first three games on Saturday, while Friday’s losing teams will face off in an elimination game. The team that loses on Saturday’s first game will take on the winner of the d

ay’s second game in another elimination round. After these games the winner of Saturday’s final game will take on the winner of the day’s first game on Sunday!

Whatever team wins the weekend’s regional will advance to the NCAA Super Regional round against the winner of the Evanston regional, which is hosted by Northwestern. The following weekend will be the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.

Our OU Sooners have made the NCAA Tournament every year for the past 25 seasons. Just last season alone, OU reached its 12th WCWS in program history and also reached national semifinals. Our OU Softball team is going into this with four national titles (2000, 2013, 2016, 2017), which only UCLA and Arizona come close to with only two.

A limited number of tickets will be available for general admission for the 2019 NCAA Softball Norman regional, so be sure to call for tickets ASAP! Stay tuned for the winners — we can’t wait!
